The 2017 Delta Film Award

‘Named in honour of the group of amateur film-makers whose efforts enlivened many a 1960s science fiction convention, the Delta Film Awards recognise significant achievement by low-budget directors.’ Registration forms for the 2018 edition available at Independent & Amateur Films.

Re-framing home movies

14 December 2017, ‘Re-framing home movies’ one-day event (Unione Culturale Franco Antonicelli, Torino). It will include:

  • Presentation of the Re-framing home movies project and screening of the final works by artists Alberto Diana, Sara Fgaier and Giulia Savorani
  • Presentation of the first results of the survey commissioned by ICAR (Istituto Centrale per gli Archivi / Italian Central Institute for Archives) on archives collecting and safeguarding the amateur film heritage in Italy, by ICAR director Stefano Vitali and project manager Karianne Fiorini
  • Presentation of the activities of the Center for Home Movies, the Home Movie Day, and the ongoing survey on home movies collections in American film archives, by Dwight Swanson
  • Screening of home movies in their original format, with commentaries by the amateur filmmakers and their families
  • Presentation of the private films of Shirley Clarke, recently restored and published on Blu-Ray by Milestone Films, and distributed in Italy by Reading Bloom
